The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (), Kumasiis deepening its collaboration with Ghana’s National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to enhance safety and security across its sprawling campus community.

The renewed commitment follows a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Ashanti Regional NIB Commander, David Amevenku, to ’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, as part of his familiarisation tour of key institutions in the region.
“We no longer operate in secrecy as we used to,” said Amevenku. “Today, we rely on openness and teamwork to deliver on our mandate. Much water can pass under the bridge without your knowledge if we don’t work together.”

He assured the university community of the Bureau’s readiness to offer continued support in addressing emerging security challenges, particularly those linked to the growing population and activities on campus.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Dickson congratulated Amevenku on his new role and described as a complex institution serving over 80,000 students, staff, and their dependents, comparable to a small city. She emphasised that effective security systems are essential to maintaining an environment conducive to academic excellence.
“The dynamic nature of university life demands that we stay in constant communication and collaboration,” she said. “We must work together to ensure the safety of all stakeholders so that we can fully deliver on the university’s mandate.”
