The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (ºÚÁÏÍø¹ÙÍø), Kumasi Ìýjoined the chiefs and people of the Mampong Traditional Area for theÌýone-week observationÌýof the passing ofÌýDaasebre Osei Bonsu II, occupant of theÌýSilver Stool of the Asante KingdomÌýand formerÌýRegistrar of ºÚÁÏÍø¹ÙÍø.
The solemn ceremony was held at theÌýAmaniampong Silver Stool PalaceÌýin Mampong, the seat of the Silver Stool, which represents the second-highest position in the Asante traditional hierarchy after the Golden Stool of Manhyia.
Known in private life asÌýMr. Saint Oswald Gyimah-Kessie, Daasebre was a respected figure in Ghana’s higher education sector, whose tenure as Registrar left a lasting mark on the administrative and cultural life of ºÚÁÏÍø¹ÙÍø.

The University’s delegation was led by theÌýChairman of the University Council, Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, supported by the Vice-Chancellor, ProfessorÌý(Mrs) Rita Akosuah Dickson and the Registrar, Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng.
Also in attendance were Director of University Health Services, Dr. Nana Kwame Ayisi-Boateng, Provosts ofÌýtheÌýCollege of Health Sciences, Prof. Christian Agyare, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prof. Dadson Awunyo-Vitor,ÌýandÌýCollege of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Charles Marfo, Director of Student Affairs, Prof. Marian Asantewah Nkansah as well as all Deputy Registrars.

TheÌýfinal funeral ritesÌýfor Daasebre Osei Bonsu II yet to be announced. ºÚÁÏÍø¹ÙÍø is expected to play a significant role in the ceremonies, honouring one of its most distinguished former officers.
